have to go to hamburg tomorrow. Want word processor on my iPad.
Thats when it started. The backup takes forever, basically does not complete. Searching the internet showed it just affects me and 1.7 million other iPad users. And you cannot skip the backup as Apple requires it for the update to 4.2.2 which might even fix the backup issue… nice. Even better, a forum post hinted me to look at the network utilisation – its 100% when i pull a local backup ?!? Some unsmart things happen here i guess.
Luckily there is Backoff . That just turns this off in iTunes. Logically, all other solutions from killing applications to changing the cable are more of the ymmv type and aren’t adressing the core problem i am pretty sure.
So, use Backoff and (if at all) backup manually or in the cloud which is smarter anyway.

Just got svn working on my webhost (webhostone.de). Tried already 4 times and failed but i still pay for it so now i am happy. Easy it was – not really. Before i forget:
- Follow their instructions (create project, user and groups in admin gui)
- Log on to your account using ssh (yes, thats possible!)
- Find your repository folder and do the svnadmin create.
- Review your httpd.conf – the automatic generator destroyed mine.
- Restart your apache2.
That did the trick for me. GOTO bed now, its late again…
PS: to add users: http://giellatekno.uit.no/doc/infra/system/addsvn-users.html + svn-authz-file + restart apache in admin gui.

Recently my old little Amp (25 bucks ebay class) that my PC is connected to broke. Well, didn’t really break but i found out while recording my guitar that there is only Sound on the left channel, the right channel mixes most of the left one – bad for stereo music. So i went looking for a replacement when someone brought up the topic of “Class T” Amps. Tripath seems to be the way to go if you are audiophile but don’t want to stress the budget.
Because buying readymade sucks a bit i bought a kit at http://www.41hz.com and assembled it myself. For 62 Euro i received a really high quality kit and assembly was tough easy as pie. That feeling when it starts working is worth more than 60 Euro. Now, well, its only a module so i need Case, Volume Control, Connectors and a 2×22v toroid transformer that i shot on eBay. And it does not assemble itself -i have not really thought about this when i bought the amp kit.

Oh, eh. The sound. Driving two Magnat Monitor Boxes with 75W i can never ever put this on full output as the Amp has a whopping 100W Peak Performance. And it would shoot my trafo as well. But even at moderate levels the sound is really really really good. When running it at 100% volume there is no noise in the speakers (yes: absoute silence). You can tell this is something better that 100 Euro would have bought me in new gear. The fact that i should have bought the 25 Euro desktop solution has already been accepted and filed under “YMMV”….

I don’t know what is so particularly hard in implementing a customer contact form. But somehow, this seems to be a really non-trivial thing as the worst, ugliest, most evil code i ever saw is in that area.
I am redoing another great contact form right now. Nice. Not that i did not do that 4 times already :-)

Went skiing today. Weather was bad and it had new snow in brixental so we were pretty alone at first. Some fat turns on empty slopes later (a complete roundtrip of the hohe salve) the sun came out and so did all the other ants.
We carved downhill, sold the cards and went. Got 40 bucks back so in total we are happy. Was the best decision to make, now the danger season starts…
I can live without snow now anyway. Want the kite season to start :-)
